3rd CONFERENCE ON TOURISM AND SPORTS ON LANZAROTE

 The 3^rd Conference on Tourism and Sports, organised by the local government through its Island Sports Service, was held on Lanzarote on the 4^th and 5^th of May. The slogan of this year’s conference was “Taking the initiative: The best response to the crisis”.

The conference was attended by Iñaki Undargarin, a former member of the Spanish national handball team. In recent years, Undargarin has cultivated an interest in social and cultural issues, in addition to sports matters, trying to forge pathways of dialogue among them.

The topic of the sessions was the issue of the crisis addressed from a variety of vantage points, relating this phenomenon to managing change as a response and to innovation in sports as a way of handling the crisis, with examples of sports and athletic institutions that have managed this crisis by strengthening their competitiveness.

The topic also revolved around innovation in the tourism industry, highlighting the main challenges to innovation on the island of Lanzarote.

For the fourth year in a row, the Princesa Yaiza Suite Hotel Resort on Lanzarote played host to the sporting events under the consultancy of Valero Rivera. The hotel is also preparing the welcome the 4^TH CLINIC FOR FOOTBALL COACHES from the 4^th to 10^th of June, and the 5^th Clinic for Handball Coaches from the 7^th to 13^th of July.
